Advisory.

If work is feeling overwhelming, you’re facing ethical pressures, or you’re a young creative looking for support, coaching might be supportive for you.

This advisory work supports people at moments when decisions matter and the path forward isn’t obvious.

It’s a 1:1 advisory practice shaped by lived experience: navigating career pivots, ethical tradeoffs, leadership responsibility, and the consequences that come with power and visibility.

The work helps people slow things down, clarify their decisions, and see the tradeoffs. It creates space to understand what is being protected, given up, and what really matters.

Advisory and professional coaching by Kelly Small.

This support may be useful when:

  • Facing a career inflection point

  • Navigating ethical tension in your work

  • Holding responsibility that feels heavy

  • Deciding whether growth, change, or exit is the right move

  • Struggling to reconcile success with integrity

  • Feeling overwhelmed or pushed to the margins

How it works.

Sessions can be:

  • 30 or 60 minutes in length

  • Related to purpose, ethics, and responsibility in your work

  • Steady and human in tone, designed to make room for careful, supported thinking rather than quick answers

  • Billed at $200/h with sliding scale available for folks who need it

The focus.

This advisory work focuses on decisions where purpose, ethics, and responsibility are part of the question.

The scope is intentionally limited. Sessions are time-bounded and ideally centred on a specific decision or tension.

My role is to support clear thinking about context, tradeoffs, and consequences. Responsibility for decisions and outcomes always remains with the client.

Access.

Advisory work is offered on a limited basis and is based on fit.

If you believe this kind of support may be useful, you can reach out with a brief description of the decision or tension you’re navigating. From there, we’ll determine whether an advisory session is appropriate.

The Conscious Creative.

This advisory work is informed by the thinking behind The Conscious Creative, a book written for people working in creative roles who care deeply about the impact of what they make and how they make it.

The book explores the ethical tensions that show up in creative work and leadership. Questions of power, authorship, responsibility, consent, and care. It looks honestly at how values collide with incentives, and what it takes to do meaningful work without losing yourself or others along the way.

For some people, the book is a useful starting point. For others, it provides shared language that deepens this advisory work. Either way, it reflects the same approach. Thoughtful, grounded, and clear-eyed about the real tradeoffs involved in creative and professional life.

Let’s work together.
