The Survivor’s Art Project.
The Survivor’s Art Project creates space for survivors to process, express, and reclaim their experiences through art. The work came with real ethical constraints. We needed to avoid tropes, sensationalism, and anything that could trigger harm. We also chose not to depict people, recognizing the risk of implying someone’s identity or experience without consent. The goal was a public-facing identity that could hold emotional weight with care. Visible, direct, and grounded in lived experience.
We developed a bold typographic system that doesn’t shrink or soften itself. Set large and anchored to the top edge, the message is immediate. THIS ART HEALS. THIS ART RESISTS. THIS ART SPEAKS. The palette builds from a deep teal rooted in sexual violence awareness, offering a sense of trust and recognition. It’s paired with saturated coral and green tones that convey presence, declaration, and grounded strength.
Designed to scale across posters, transit, social, and wearables, the system creates impact without relying on imagery. It speaks clearly and with intention, making space for survivors’ voices without speaking over them.
