Canada Post:
Places of Pride
Places of Pride is a two-year commemorative stamp series honouring sites and spaces that helped shape 2SLGBTQIA+ history in Canada. Developed in collaboration with illustrator Tim Singleton, the 2025 and 2026 issues bring forward places of gathering, resistance, celebration, and change.
The series features Club Carousel in Calgary, Truxx in Montréal, Hanlan’s Point Beach in Toronto, and the 3rd North American Native Gay & Lesbian Gathering near Beausejour, Manitoba, alongside Little Sister’s Book & Art Emporium in Vancouver, Metamorphosis in Saskatoon, The 519 in Toronto, and The Turret in Halifax. Together, the stamps trace defining moments in community-building, protest, legal change, Two-Spirit recognition, and queer cultural life across the country.
Across both years, the visual systems were designed to balance historical significance with celebration. Rather than recreating archival photographs, the stamps use contemporary illustration to bring each site to life, combining richly detailed environments, vibrant colour palettes, and custom iconography that reflect the unique character of each location. The approach allowed the series to move beyond documentation and toward storytelling, capturing not only the physical places themselves but the sense of community, resilience, and possibility they represent.
The campaign extended beyond the stamps themselves, with national and regional media coverage, launch events, and out-of-home placements in each featured community, grounding the work in the places and people it honours. Designed by Intents & Purposes for Canada Post and illustrated by Tim Singleton, the series became a meaningful Pride Month tribute to the communities that made these places possible.
